Full description
This unique hand made sea-glass twist pen is the 4th and final turned sea-glass pen in my very limited range of these delightful little jewels. All the others have sold. I have used a combination of blue and clear sea-glass that was washed up on the shore at Sands of Wright, Orkney. The original glass got into the sea via a variety of sources, from jars and bottles dropped overboard from various ships and fishing boats, to that which comes from the many shipwrecks around our island shores. Indeed, some of the glass may have originated on the many WW2 Royal Navy and German warships that currently lie on the sea-bed in Scapa Flow. These sea-glass pens are incredibly difficult to create and take over ten hours to turn on my lathe. A slow process as glass tends to overheat and melt the resin, so very slow lathe revolutions and plenty of cooling fluid are required. As far as I am aware they are the only turned sea-glass pens in existence. This is a two-piece twist pen pattern, the glass being held in a clear resin binder. As these pens are so time consuming to make, I will only be making them to order in the future, so this is your chance to get your hands on a very rare thing indeed. The pen weighs 46g, is 135mm long, about 17mm diameter and uses a standard Cross slimline refill.
Postage is UK only. Overseas customers please contact me before buying. All my pens are sent via Royal Mail Special Delivery, and usually reach you the next working day.
