I love orchids, always have a few in the house and thought it was time I immortalised one in glass.

Full description
This is a stained glass suncatcher made using the Tiffany copper foil technique.
This was a brand new design of mine to celebrate spring 2019. I have several orchids flowering on my windowsills but thought it time I had a glass one too so here it is.
I've cut the orchid from some lovely rose red glass, with slight graduations of shade and a little copper red in the centre for contrast. The leaves are bright green and I've framed with a pretty textured clear glass with more rose on the corners.
The suncatcher is in the form of a picture.
The orchid fits to the front of the frame in some places to give a 3-dimensional effect and the spaces round the flower are not filled.
The picture is framed with twisted wire for added strength and neatness.
The suncatcher is 15.5 cm square and hangs from a strong silvery chain which is securely attached at either side of the top. It shines beautifully when hanging in the light and shows the lovely textures of the glass.
This will make a wonderful present for someone else or just for yourself as it is very special and absolutely unique.
I never make two pieces exactly the same. Even from the same pattern I always use slightly different colours and textures of glass.
A lovely present at any time for someone you love.
