My father is a woodturner who makes clocks. He suggested that I have a go at making a clock using the type of insert he uses. This is our first attempt, and we like it!

Got a little time on your hands?
This is a small clock that will fit on any mantlepiece, cupboard or window ledge. It has a quality quartz movement insert into the glass. The movement has a white face, gold-coloured bezel and uses Roman numerals. It has a second hand.
As all our glass is hand-cut there will never be another clock the same as this.
It is made of a single piece of streaky brown glass that has been hand-cut to shape. It has been fired up to around 800C which smooths off the edges. We then use our diamond drill and grinder bits to cut and shape a hole in the glass to accept the movement insert. The glass is mounted on a wooden stand.
The whole piece is approximately 17.5 cm tall and the wooden base is 10.5 cm wide.
The movement can be easily removed from the glass to set the time and replace the battery as necessary.
Please note that the glass will be taken off the base for shipping. You will need a small screwdriver to reassemble the piece.
