I make a lot of books and I teach bookbinding classes. When it comes to mitring the corners of the paper some people wing it – which is just fine. Others like to measure accurately to make sure they get the exact 45 degree angle, and to make sure the cut line is 0.7mm from the greyboard. The idea came for a corner gizmo tool which removes all that need for measuring.
After a few tests and prototypes we came up settled on this version which is laser cut from rigid acetate sheet.
It’s pretty resilient – I dropped mine straight away when I opened the package and it just bounced, and it rattles around in my tool box quite happily (having said that I suggest you don’t test it to destruction!!). If you get any PVA glue on it, it just peels off.
If you have any questions about it please get in touch. let me know

This handy little tool helps you get perfect 45 degree angles when you are mitring a corner in bookbinding. It has been designed to give you a gap of exactly 0.7cm between the corner of the greyboard, and the cut line. This is the right distance to make sure the greyboard doesn’t poke through the corner, and allows for a nice neat flat corner on your book without too much bulk
The photos show step by step how to use the corner gizmo.
This listing is for the yellow gizmos which are back in stock, and you can see in photos 2 onwards.
These yellow corner gismos are laser cut from rigid acetate sheet.
