I'd like to introduce you to my brand new collection called Oology (which by definition is the study or collection of bird eggs).
Pictured are a pair of statement glass studs that have evolved from my watercolor impressions of British bird eggs.
The glass eggs have been sculpted freehand using the lampworking technique (the one with the torch) so each egg will be slightly different, which really adds more of an organic, artisan feel.
The studs have been annealed in the kiln to remove all thermal stresses and make them extra durable (excellent for everyday wear). However, please keep in mind that they are still glass, so still treat them with care.
The posts and backs are made of surgical steel and therefore hypoallergenic. They are actually set into the molten glass which means there is no nasty glue used.
The length is approximately 1.8cm and the width at the widest point is approximately 1.5cm.
Please be aware that no single stud is exactly the same and that colours and patterning will vary.
Oology has been illustrated and directed by me and produced, exclusively, by the talented, Edinburgh artist, Helen Chalmers.
