Full description
These two birds in flight make an eye-catching and attractive pair of earrings. I have painted graduated stripes of turquoise, blue and purple on the diagonal. The stripes go around the sides and across the back, so they look striking from all angles. They are very light and swing freely from little rings.
As with all my jewellery they are made and decorated entirely by hand.
I cut the small bird shapes out of fine white clay, and when dry I carefully smooth all the edges. They then have their first firing. Next I paint them using under-glazes. The birds are painted on both sides and the edges. I then apply a transparent glaze before firing again to earthenware. The ceramic is glazed all over so is very smooth to the touch, the result is a pleasantly tactile item. After the second firing I suspend the birds from silver plated rings, and attach sterling silver ear wires.
The ear wires are sterling silver.
This is a one-off listing, the earrings in the photographs are the actual pair you will receive.
Each bird is about 18mm across (about three quarters of an inch) at the widest part, and about 30mm (about an inch and a quarter) long.
All my jewellery comes in a hand-stamped box.
