Sycamore is one of those woods that is traditionally used for kitchen wares. It has excellent natural strength and doesn't retain strong flavours. That may be due to it's high silica content which makes it so hard and durable and means I have to sharpen my tools more frequently to keep their razor sharp edges. I love making these, it's not just playing with axes when I rough out the wood, it gives me the chance to do turning and carving. The groves are all carved by hand with a small gouge - a very satisfying job!

Full description
Sycamore lemon juicer suitable for limes and oranges. Feels comfortable to use and only needs a quick rinse to clean. Hand carved grooves allow the juice to flow straight over your chicken into your gin or over your salad. An excellent gadget for cocktail makers, chefs and all foodies. It's especially good for limes which are often so hard even after rolling on the counter top and just makes life easier in the kitchen. It's been turned on the lathe and then I carve the grooves, which slide most of the pips into the into the bottom end of the cut fruit so altogether a very handy little tool.
