Purely fun and when I saw the grain of this ash I knew it would make super fast spinning tops. So I've tested it out and it works splendidly, used on a wooden tray it sounds just like a Spitfire humming in the distance! Try throwing it to each other and catching on metal trays, get it going on your hand, get your stop watch out...

Full description

Traditional supported spinning top turned from Lee Valley Park Ash with a Hazel puller. The hazel is grown in my own coppice in Magdalen Laver just north of Epping Forest. This is a magical little toy that will charm adults and children alike. Use the muscles in your own arm to power the top, the harder you pull the faster it will spin, the faster it spins the longer it will keep going! A great toy that will give hours of amusement is great for adults as an after dinner entertainment! Excellent for using left & right handed...

I make lots of these fantastic battery free toys so although I've listed 3 available they will all be similar to this one but with slight variations - the grain will differ in undulations, I make subtle differences in the decoration, just a little and they all suit the wood, the toy and my whimsical mood on the day I turned them, and this one has five decorative circles turned into the wood with one of my razor sharp skews...
