I created the hug free motion sewing artworks during lockdown. I took to pausing hugs on the tv and would stare at them wistfully! After sketching a few I progressed to the sewing machine and a new collection of textile art was born. It was great to be able to incorporate the Harris Tweed remnants I had collected over the years too, waste not want not!
I had the originals reproduced on acid free fine art paper and they have translated very well to this medium. Even I tried to touch the ‘fabric’ on the finished print!
