Full description

This hand bound journal was made by traditional methods, the paper was made and cut by hand and then stitched. The covers are made from driftwood (washed up boat wood)- that is 'sea battered' plywood- revealing various layers.

The covers were not artificially distressed, there was a minimum amount of sanding applied to soften any sharp edges and splinters.

The paper is handmade, so may not 'take' fountain pen ink too well (may bleed)- but should be fine with Biro or pencil.

Dimensions of book: 21 cm x 15.5 cm x 5 cm.

Size of page: 14 cm x 20 cm - Landscape.

Binding- Long stitch over tapes, kettle stitch.

Book closure- salvaged rope and found washed up scallop shell.

The covers and shell were found on the East Devon Jurassic coast.

Designed by Jennifer Mosley BA (hons)-Artist & Benjamin Knibbs- Maker and Book Binder in Budleigh Salterton
