This is a fantasy animal made from the fore end of a defunct shotgun. (the bit under the barrel you hold the gun with your left hand).

The wood is walnut I think, and retains its original patina and character. The snout is the release mechanism that usually is inside the fore end, turned around. The rest of the beastie is copper pipe. It has been left for a good few months to patinate, but you could polish it back to bright copper if you prefer that look.

It occurs to me that you could also put them on the wall, like some sort of Geko. You could do this with a bit of wire perhaps and a picture hook or nail.

This beast comes from having been given some walnut fore ends from a couple of old defunct shotguns. Rather than just cutting them up and using the wood to make pens, I sat and wondered what else they could be.

Playing with the wood and the release mechanism that came with them I decided they could be some sort of beastie.

So I made 2, one large and one small. There are both advertised individually here, so if you want a pair then have a look at the other one also.
