This gorgeous piece of glass is made from strips of Robins Egg blue glass coupled with white. I have inserted 2 ‘windows’ of a transparent aqua glass with streaks of white in to offer a contrast to the strips. This was quite a technical challenge to make as it calls for very precise cutting of slim pieces of glass, but I believe the results make it so worthwhile.
The kiln was heated to more than 800 degrees Celsius to melt the glass strips and then it was fired for a second time to create the shape of this lovely platter.
It can be used purely decoratively, to enjoy its beauty, or equally could be used as a serving dish – the choice is yours
Dimensions: LxWxH in cm
I enjoy the challenge of making strip cut glass, there are many slices of lass which make up this beauty. The windows create a whole new dimension.
