Item details

This original knitting pattern fits Sylvanian Families & tiny dolls 3 inches and 3.5 inches tall. It will also fit Amerian Calico Critters figurines. It is printed in A5 format and will be posted to you in a brown paper envelope.

The design is quick to complete, using 1.5mm needles and scraps of any very thin yarn, such as crochet cotton, perle lustre thread or 3 or 4 strands of embroidery cotton. It requires no buttons and is knitted flat. I used soft crochet thread size 10.

This pattern is my own design, based on a 1950s doll pattern.

For a beginner knitter, I suggest ignoring the stripes and knitting the items all in one colour.

The figurines were photographed on the beach at Lyme Regis, Dorset on a sunny October morning. The local beach cafes had their sun parosols up (or were they there to deter the gulls?).

When I was about 8 years old just after the War, I saw a doll knitting pattern for a swimming costume and jacket. I knitted it and never forgot the design. I have now recreated the pattern with adjustments to fit a much smaller figure.
