Helen Smith Glass Plus

This panel is part of my ‘Lockdown Sketchbook’ series. At first I viewed the Covid-19 lockdown period as a time when I would be able to concentrate on my art without the usual everyday distractions. And yet, as the world changed, and in common with many other artists, I found myself stuck. I went back to basics and started some mark making in my sketchbook and it wasn’t long before I wanted to take these marks onto the glass and so this series evolved; initially focused on abstract marks; then extending the technique to sketches of my beloved coastal landscape.

This panel is created from fused glass and glass powder and depicts a row of wooden posts on the shore at sunset. This particular spot on my local shoreline is my favourite place to walk after a day in the studio.
The glass panel in shades of blue has a matt finish with a crackle effect which allows the light to shine through. The panel is float mounted on a white board and framed in a white solid wood frame.
Fused glass art panel created by me in my home studio on the Wirral peninsula, NW England.
DIMENSIONS:
The solid wood frame measures 24cm (9.75”) square and 3.5cm (1.5”) deep.
The glass panel is 13cm (5”) square and is float mounted onto a white panel 20cm (8”) square.
The frame is ready to hang with a keyhole hanger on the back and is supplied with the correct size screw.
