This is a stained glass suncatcher handmade by Tiffany copper foil technique.
A very special stained glass suncatcher. I designed it to incorporate a red dragon and a Welsh rugby ball. I’m delighted with the finished piece which is 19.5cm x 12cm.
Like all my suncatchers, handmade with love and designed to hang in the window and catch the sunshine.
The rugby ball is cut from prettily textured clear glass and I added a thin red stripe at the top and a wider band of green at the bottom to represent the colours of a Welsh rugby ball. Inside I’ve placed a bright red dragon and a little yellow flame as it is well known that all dragons breath fire.
It looks wonderful fantastic in the window, a very bright decoration which will cast its colours as it catches the sun.
This item is absolutely unique. I never make two pieces exactly the same, I always use slightly different colours and textures of glass.
Each piece of glass is individually cut, shaped and copper foiled and then soldered together. The outer edge is framed with twisted wire for strength and neatness. I then solder on little wire rings for hanging.
It hangs from a little silver chain which is securely attached to the wire rings at the top. I always supply a strong suction hook so it comes ready for you to hang.
