Since ancient times, people have observed the phases of the moon. Many of the most important pagan gods and goddesses were associated with the moon and many people nowadays believe that it has the power to influence more than just the tides. Some think that when the crescent of the waxing moon is in the sky the time is right to start new endeavours, new projects and new relationships.

A stylized solid silver pendant depicting the New Moon as a crescent hanging below a little fair weather cloud in a night sky. Made of thick sterling silver sheet and wire which I have formed, carved, coiled and texturized to create a variety of effects. The moon itself is made using a technique called reticulation, where the silver is slightly melted to create random patterns on the surface of the metal. The clouds are created using small arches of sterling silver wire in rows, soldered to the surface of the silver sheet in a technique reminiscent of ancient Anglo Saxon jewellery. The bail is affixed to the rear of the pendant so that it is invisible as the chain passes through it. As the whole is highly polished it reflects the light in a number of ways, with smooth shining surfaces and the glittering effect of the crescent moon, which is pierced free to move owing to a link between it and the main pendant. The pendant measures 32 x 32 mm or 1 1/4" x 1 1/4" including the attached moon and is just over 1 mm thick.
This unusual and glamorous pendant is presented in a gift box tied with a bow.
