Mackerel are one of the most attractive local fish, and I've been trying to capture the form of the fish for some time. I'm finally happy with this version!

Recycling: I try to be as environmentally responsible as possible. I don't buy none-recyclable packaging materials but I do re-use any bubble-wrap etc I receive. If you get any in your parcel, please be reassured it has been recycled. If you can't re-use it yourself try donating it to someone who can rather than throwing it away!

Full description
These fused glass mackerel are designed to hang on an indoor or outdoor wall. Made of shimmering glass, they will work well in any location, but are particularly useful for difficult to decorate spaces such as kitchens, bathrooms and gardens. Alternatively they make a perfect gift for nature lovers!
Each mackerel is approximately 25cm long and comes with two discrete hooks for easy hanging.

How it's made - After cutting the various pieces of glass needed I add two hanging hooks and fire at a high temperature to fuse the body into a single, smooth piece of glass. Then I add stripes and detailing in enamel paint along with an eye and fins and fuse again at a medium temperature to ensure the final piece retains a 3D effect.
Creature Fact - Mackerel schools can reach up to 20 miles in length.
