A sterling silver and Murano glass pendant based on the shape of the most important and decorative card in the deck, the Ace of Spades. The genuine Murano heart shaped bead is inverted and threaded onto thick and chunky sterling silver wire and then permanently fixed by hammering the stem flat, thus creating the familiar shape of the famous playing card. Visible hammering marks, naturally created by the ball pein hammer I used, create a sparkling dappled finish on one side or alternatively choose to display the smooth polished reverse. The bail is a simple circular loop. This particular Murano bead is of a warm wine purple or dark plum colour which the manufacturers call amethyst and the genuine silver lining gives the bead the appearance of shot silk. The pendant measures 30 mm in length with a 14 mm bead and is mounted on a strong sterling silver chain measuring 450 mm, fastened with a bolt ring clasp. I have shown the pendant next to a vintage lipstick case in the last photograph in order to give a sense of scale.
