Our Dave is a rhyming children's picture book written and illustrated by me, Emma Woodthorpe. This first edition print run was funded by supporters over on Kickstarter who helped fund the printing in 48 hours! In total, we over doubled our target!

Our Dave is based on my own cat's experiences of the cat-shelter before we found each other. Real-Life Dave has been such a big part of out lives. He also cropps up in a lot of the cat illustrations I do elsewhere too.

We decided to make the book originally just for my partner's sister, Catherine. But as I got into writing and illustrating the book, I realised that this was something I had to share with the world!

I've always wanted to be an author - since being a kid! It's taken me to the age of 37 to make it happen!

With Our Dave I wanted to give back to the wonderful Sheffield Cats Shelter who cared for real-life Dave after he was abandoned into their care for the second time in his life - before he could become a part of ours. During the Kickstarter to fund the first print run of Our Dave, I collected £1 for each book requested as a reward. Together we collected £107 for the wonderful Sheffield Cats Shelter!
