Full description
A striking scarf made using a nuno felting technique. The main body of the scarf has been made using natural white (unbleached) merino wool fibres laid over a silk chiffon fabric with a border added using a rainbow blend of merino wool fibres. The layout of the fibres in the border and manipulation during felting results in a ruffled effect. Nuno felting is a process whereby woollen fibres are laid over a fabric base (usually silk or cotton) and wet felted. During the felting process the woollen fibres migrate through the fabric and bind with it. This allows for a very fine woollen layer, much finer than traditional felt as the underlying silk provides strength.
The resulting scarf is beautifully soft and lightweight. The scarf measures approximately 146cm x 28cm (57.5" x 11"), long enough to wrap around the neck if desired or it can be worn draped across the shoulders or tied in many ways.

The scarf will be supplied wrapped in floral tissue paper with labelling describing the nuno felting process and full washing instructions making it an ideal gift.
