Item details

A sixpence was known as a "Lucky" coin for numerous reasons, it is a tradition for a bride to have one for her wedding day.
"Something old, something new. Something borrowed, something blue. And a sixpence in her (left) shoe"
Another reason why a sixpence  is considered lucky is that during the Second World War, the Royal Air Force had the coins sewn into their wings on their uniform for good luck during their flights. ... Today a sixpence still considered a sign of good luck, health, wealth and happiness.
