An square, Oxford cushion made from Designer Label fabric and pure vintage silk.

The stunning fabric that fronts this Oxford cushion is called 'Deya la Fuente' and was designed by Matthew Williamson for the high-end design company Osborne & Little. It is from the Spanish collection and features ornamental fountains and flower-filled vases bedecked with richly detailed pineapple and peacock feather motifs. All these details are beautifully embroidered in blues, terra cotta, soft greys and silver on a contrasting pale silver-grey satin cotton.

I have created the back panel of the cushion using a vintage, lightly patterned dark terracotta 100% silk (which has been interlined with natural calico to add robustness to this delicate fabric) and all raw fabric edges have been overlocked for a professional finish.

The Oxford border has been defined using a velvet gimp called 'Maple Leaf', in a complementary rich terracotta tone, from the London-based 'Hip Haberdasher' VV Rouleaux.

The zip enclosure (terracotta coloured zip) is on the rear of the cushion.

The cushion measures 54 x 54 cm (including the Oxford border) and is filled with a 45 x 45 cm British made feather pad to provide a soft, informal cushion.

This is such a richly embroidered fabric, using a range of stitches in both embroidery silks and crewel wool, that none of the photos seem to do it full justice! It would just look superb on a well-dressed bed.

I have just enough of this beautiful fabric left to make a slightly smaller, complementary cousin to this Oxford cushion - maybe at some point in the future.............
