Hello! My shop is looking a little depleted because I will be in Brittany for a couple of months from the 9th of July. Due to the new customs rules I can't take my finished artwork or wools with me, but I will, however, be able to take pet portrait commissions for delivery in October, November and December. So if you would like a life-like, lasting memento of your pet, please contact me.
We have a small herd of highland cattle in our local park and I love their character and glorious shaggy coats. I've tried to make my cows as full as character and individual as the real thing. She's made of 100% merino and Norwegian wools with just a few strands of tussah silk fibres in the background to hint at clouds.
She's needlefelted onto a wet-felted background using specialist barbed needles that carry the fibres through to the other side and compact the fibres as you repeatedly stab them. It isn't a job to do while watching tv!
The curly coat is added last, strand by strand in the same way that you would handmake a wig.
