A knitting pattern for a rainbow of hearts in three sizes. A quick-make gift to show someone you care, these hearts can be personalised by embroidering a short message onto them. The small hearts are an ideal size for making into Christmas tree baubles or for stringing together to make a garland. They are also perfect for a thank you, wedding, anniversary or Valentine gift.

Each heart is knit flat in 2 pieces then sewn together and stuffed. The finished hearts are approximately 5, 10 and 15 cm (2, 4 and 6 inches) tall. The medium and small hearts are a single colour and the big heart has 6 stripes.

The pattern includes instructions on how to embroider a short message onto the heart.

This 6-page pattern is printed double-sided in colour on A4 paper and will be sent to you unfolded and unbound.

You will need:

Rico Ricorumi Cotton DK: one 25g ball each in Red (028), Orange (027), Yellow (006), Green (049), Sky Blue (031) and Purple (020). The large heart uses about 29g of yarn (3-6g per stripe), the medium heart uses 13g and each small heart uses about 5g.
Toy stuffing.
3mm knitting needles.
A tapestry needle.

Techniques you should know:

Casting on and binding off
Knitting and purling.
Simple colour changes for making stripes.
Increasing (kfb) and decreasing.
Sewing seams using mattress stitch.
