A set of three fabric face-masks. Pleated and sculpted with a chin-piece, they are held in place with elastic which is easily slipped over the ears for rapid fitting and removal. The ear-straps can be adjusted and replaced by easing the loops through the tubes and untying.

Handy for shopping trips or exercising in busier places, they come with two small bags, one for keeping clean masks for wearing (which also has an external pocket for hand gel) and another laundry bag for masks that have been worn and possibly contaminated.

These masks are two-layered, made with cotton print with plain calico lining. They do not meet any certified specifications and do not have an opening for a filter. It is the responsibility of the buyer and end-user to ensure that they are suitable for the purpose of use.

It is our view that these masks are more comfortable and convenient than wrapping a scarf or handkerchief around one's head to cover the nose and mouth. There is no guarantee that they will protect the wearer from any harm caused by all types of air-borne dust. It is likely that a clean mask will help reduce the spread of germs from the wearer.

Making face-masks was an activity hovering around the middle of the Kinder Cultured "to-do" list long before the Covid-19 outbreak, but the horrid bug prompted them to move rapidly to the top and set in motion a small research project and the production a sequence of prototypes.

Something presentable and simple was needed to provide some protection from dust that was occasionally generated in a crafting environment. These can be kept conveniently to hand, machine washed, used again and again.

The accompanying bags were produced as a result of thinking through how a person can keep masks uncontaminated before use, if outside the home, and how to keep worn masks from contaminating other items such as pockets and bags. They can go into the wash with the masks and used again, unlike paper or plastic.
