My daughter Katie was working at Cikananga Wildlife Centre in Java, Indonesia at the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic. She ended up being there for six months. Three years on, the centre is still struggling for funds. It's a relatively small place but houses many rescued animals including sun bears, Javan and clouded leopards, orang-utans, macaques, binturongs, slow lorises, cassowaries and a breeding centre for birds that are in such dangerously low numbers in the wild. Many animals once recovered are released back into safe environments. Please help by buying something from my Cikananga collection, or simply donate what you can afford on their website. Do you like tickles? This Sun Bear certainly does!
Sun bears live in Asia and are the smallest bears in the world. They have distinctive crescent markings on their chests and very very long tongues!!! It's a fun print and I think children especially would be rather pleased with a copy hung in their bedrooms.
This is an original open edition Lino print pressed by hand in my home studio. The printed area measures approximately 30cm x 30cm and is printed on Zerkall archive paper (38 cm x 38cm ) in black water based ink. I’m donating £30 to Cikananga Wildlife Rescue Centre in Indonesia who care for several sun bears and many other wild animals (please read all about the centre further on). I'm on a rolling print run with this one so please bear with me while I print, press and dry!! Prints will be posted out as soon as I am able. I hope you like it and I'll be pleased as punch if you order a copy!
