With the stunning Cornish coast on my studio doorstep, I paint to try to convey the sheer beauty of the beaches of Cornwall. I am mesmerised by the immense power of the waves and the colours that appear in the deep waters. I paint so that people can feel the sea spray on their skin and the sand between their toes.

“Deep Dark Wave” was created to try to convey the balance of calm and turmoil of the ocean. The calm sky above, the crashing waves on the surface of the water and the deep dark abyss below. I wanted to portray the different textures of each element of the painting, smooth sky, rough wave crest and a depth of colour in the ocean below.
