Item details

A pull for light or blind, lucky charm or touchwood. This fantastic rich deep coloured wood is the heart wood of Laburnum, it has an almost tiger's eye appearance and this shape shows off the grain to perfection. It has a very silky touch to it and measures 5cm long and 2.35cm at it's widest.

Laburnum is glorious much maligned due it's poisonous parts but has long been highly prized by cabinet makers for veneer, it grows wild all over Scotland where it is known as Scottish Mahogany, just a useless little bit of information, but I do like these silly facts! I'm always loathe to discard any of this almost exotic timber as it's increasingly hard to come by round about here and this tiny scrap didn't disappoint me, in fact I was thrilled with it...
