Well I was asked to make a handle for a froe and I didn't have any suitable wood so quick call and I was in a land rover off to Brentwood, a shooting estate of a friend who always likes to go out to the woods for a walk. It's an overgrown coppice, huge limbs ten to 15 per stool, perhaps 40 foot tall and all swaying wildly in the wind. We made our selection of one trunk only, neither of us likes to fell trees unnecessarily. I counted the rings when we felled this limb and it was last coppiced in 1948! So just a wee bit overgrown! Full description
A larger heavy bowl that I'd use as a serving bowl for peas, cherries, strawberries or perhaps a hearty dinner size portion of stew. As always it's up to you but it does have many uses in the kitchen and dining room. It's a rich golden colour with lovely circular grain pattern with dark olives on two opposite edges.
Diameter is 17cm and height of 8cm with an outward slightly curved chamfer to the edge profile.
