I really like Polwarth with it's beautiful sheen approx 400m of 4ply and its softness. It dyes beautifully and blocks like a dream so perfect for shawls and scarves.
Hand dyed by me in the shades of green, copper, yellow and brown.
One of the lesser-known fine wools, Polwarth was developed in Australia in the 1880s by crossing Saxon Merino with Lincoln to produce a hardier, more adaptable dual-purpose breed. The fibre shares all the tender, spongy characteristics of Merinobut with a little more staple length, strength, and lustre.
It should be colour fast but I would recommend lukewarm hand washing.
Please note there is no nylon in this so unsuitable for socks.
