This opulent brooch was woven over a firm wool base with a luxury multicoloured yarn. I have picked out these colours by embroidering a scrap of upholstery silk and using it to cover a button, I brought the colours together with a circle of seed beads. This brooch has a real contrast of different textures which makes it vibrant and would look stunning on a lapel, hat or added to a bag.

I was inspired to make this brooch by the fabulous yarn. The colours that came through when I wove the yarn were not ones that I would normally have thought to put together but I really enjoyed the challenge of embellishing the rossette with treasures from my sewing room.
