I haven't done very much sand casting so I was delighted when a friend asked me to re-create a star pendant that was unrepairable in sterling silver. I saw this as chance to practice sand casting whereby you make a mould in a special sand into which molten silver is poured. The star pendant worked out really well and have one listed in my shop. I was keen to try creating more jewellery using this method of casting. We have an oak tree at the bottom of our garden so have a ready supply of acorns - I have made a couple of these now and they work really well each one being truely unique as I use a different acorn each time.
