These multipurpose laser-cut alphabet decorations will bring a unique touch to your Christmas or can simply be enjoyed all year round. Dangle them from your tree, string them into bunting, use them as gift tags or whatever takes your fancy...

There's a reason we call them laser-cute; these charming letters are based on an ornamental font discovered in a vintage typeface book. Use them to spell out a name, signal a festive greeting or select your favourite person's initials - the possibilities are endless.

All my shapes are crisply laser-cut from 1.3mm plywood which is left unfinished so that the natural wood grain shows through. Two small holes at the top of each letter allow you to string them on thread, whether you hang individually or arrange them into a line to make unique bunting.

Dimensions vary but each letter is approximately 3.5cm high, ranging in width from 2.5cm to 7.5cm. Please note that due to the natural material used, each letter has its own individual grain.

I first started making these shapes out of cardboard and giving them to my kids to decorate - but I soon realised that they were having way too much fun with them and I wanted to create a longer-lasting equivalent for grown-ups to get involved in.

I love the idea of offering something that has a very distinctive and unique look that people can customise and easily make into something entirely their own. These shapes have a strong quirky design aesthetic, but you can use them in a multitude of ways to bring your own personal touch to home decorations, gift giving and whatever else you fancy.

I really enjoy the satiny sheen of the natural wood, but it also provides the perfect surface for painting, writing on, dusting with glitter or sticking on sequins, so you can customise to your heart's content.
