Bella's 21st century day-job is looking after Furball Hall, a medieval manor house set in a wooded valley in the Lake District. Part of her job is to put on concerts at the Hall which allows her to become her alter-ego which is a musician at the Court of King Henry VIII. Bella trained at the Royal School of Mousicians where she studied lute. Her favourite occupation in the whole world is playing renaissance love-songs from the Minstrel's Gallery dressed in her finest concert gown, cape and stunning gold boots. I had to take a longer break than expected, back again on the edge of the lovely Lake District.

I make small animals - mainly from recycled materials. Mice, foxes and squirrels each reach a point where they tell me that they play a sport, carry out some sort of activity or, as in Bella's case, play a musical instrument. The animal often directs the construction of the equipment or instrument which they use - for example, Bella was quite particular about ensuring that her lute has a decorated sound hole and tuning pegs set at the 'correct' angle.
Bella is about 15 cms tall and is not suitable to be played with as a doll.
