My sister asked me to design a Christening shawl and I thought why not! But also, could you use the same shawl for your wedding and then use it as a Christening shawl so that it truely becomes an heirloom? I took my stitch inspiration from flowers in my own garden this summer but wanted to use traditional materials hence, using Shetland wool rather than silk for this my first shawl in a planned collection. I had so many ideas for changing the stitch pattern and the overall design that I now plan to make several unique shawls that are variations on this theme. This first shawl in the collection took several weeks to knit.
