All my pieces are designed and created in my workshop in Sussex England overlooking the rolling Sussex Downs which are a great source of inspiration.
Material is carefully selected for its suitability and cut and hand planed.
All final working performed by hand as are applying the final finishes such as oil, French polish and waxes. This ensures the desired final quality is achieved.
With such a high degree of hand working some minor variances can occur which add further character to the piece and set it apart from the mass produced.
You have 14 days, from receipt, to notify the seller if you wish to cancel your order or exchange an item.
Unless faulty, the following types of items are non-refundable: items that are personalised, bespoke or made-to-order to your specific requirements; items which deteriorate quickly (e.g. food), personal items sold with a hygiene seal (cosmetics, underwear) in instances where the seal is broken; digital items.

Full description
Backgammon sets are made by me to my own design using hand tools wherever practicable applying traditional methods. Corner joints are box or finger design. Combining complimentary woods and veneers creates the final look. Finishes are a mixture of oils, waxes and shellac which is French Polished to a high shine where appropriate.
The Sapela Backgammon Set – Medium size
The sides are solid sapele wood
Outside the top and bottom panels are sapele veneer on MDF with a beautiful grain They are French polished to a gentle shine. Blackwood inlay protects the edges.
Inside sides are sapele wood. The top and bottom panels are sapele background veneer with complimentary light (ash) and dark woods (walnut) for the play area. The dividers between the playing areas and storage areas are sapele wood.
The two hinges are vintage English solid brass recess fitted with brass screws.
Two brassed catches of traditional design hold the set closed.
The playing pieces (stones) are handmade in wood in natural and brown colours.
There are two pairs of six sided spot dice and a doubling dice to complete the set.
Approximate sizes:- Width 350mm, Depth closed 220mm, open 440mm, Height closed 45mm open 22mm.
