Inspiration for the origami card came while sitting on the “throne” one morning. I was wondering how to keep printed greeting cards relevant in this new world of all things digital, the traditional greeting card was in danger of being replaced by an email, a post or an instant message laced with a witty gif. Since the threat of the e-card didn’t quite take hold - mainly because no one wanted to pay for it - the good old greeting card is surviving and in some cases, it’s growing. With so many amazing different types of cards out there it was going to be easy coming up with a new and unique twist for a greeting card but then it hit me (yes while on the throne), how about creating a card where the recipient can have a go at making something in origami? A good friend introduced me to Japanese folding art called origami and after making a few items I was hooked! With my love of art and graphic design background, my eureka moment seemed to have been inevitable - almost destiny.
