Printed by hand in an edition of only 20, this two colour letterpress print was inspired by the fantastic band Orange Juice and their iconic song 'Rip It Up'. A brilliant phrase for any studio, to help keep the creative juices flowing.
Each poster is signed and numbered.
The poster measures 65cm x 35.5cm and was printed by hand on a vintage Vandercook proofing press using orange & navy blue oil based ink on off-white 190gms paper.
The poster is supplied unframed, and is delivered in a poster tube.
I visited the studio of fellow letterpress printer Thomas Gravemaker in Amsterdam at Easter and had the chance to do some printing on his lovely presses. I created this poster there, which required some tricky locking up of the individual wooden letter blocks to create the topsy-turvy 'ripped up' effect of the text. As you can see from the images, the print goes through the press twice, one for each colour, with the orange text being printed first, followed by the blue.
