I do a lot of pigeon rescue...and here are some fascinating facts about the humble pigeon!
The gentle, complex, extremely intelligent and totally loyal pigeon will mate for life.
Both sexes co-parent, take turns to incubate the eggs, and both mum and dad will feed the chicks 'pigeon milk'.
Pigeons are renowned for their incredible navigational abilities. They were used extensively in both World Wars to carry messages, and as a result, tens of thousands of human lives were saved.
They fly at an average of 77.6 miles per hour, and can fly 77 miles a day, at an altitude exceeding 6000 feet.
They're amazing, and I adore them!
