A simple .999 fine Silver oval jewellery pendant imprinted with a real fern leaf picked from the woodland around my house. The pendant is hand made from .999 Silver Precious Metal Clay. The design features a simple oval of silver with an intaglio print of a fern leaf, the Silver Jewellery has an oxidised finish and is completed with a sterling silver 18”/20” sterling silver trace chain is threaded through the chain loop.

Each Fern jewellery necklace is hand made from .999 Precious Metal Clay, and are an original design made by me. A natural hand picked fern leaf is used in the design, because of this every Silver fern jewellery necklace will vary slightly from the image.

The .999 pure Silver metal is solid and will not bend, the necklace is of Sterling Silver having an extension loop fitted 2 inches from the end to allow for flexible use, a spring clasp fitting allows for easy put on and take off. A unique gift!

The pendant will be presented on a cushioned card wrapped in tissue, placed in an organza bag and sent in a padded envelope by 1st class post.

Please note your fern leaf pendant is made from .999 Silver, the final weight of metal used to make the necklace weighs less than 7 grams and does not require a hallmark.

I began using Silver clay a while ago and read how many people imprint leaves, bark etc into the clay to create interesting pendants, I walk my dog every morning through the woods around were I live and have ferns along the paths, choosing a small leaf I decided to manipulat ethe fern at an angle to make the imprint resemble a tree line.

PMC is rolled flat, an oval is cut out of the still wet clay and whilst still damp a fern leaf is imprinted into the surface, the clay is dried on a hot plate, once dried a loop is formed from a snake of PMC and moulded to the reverse of the dried oval necklace, the piece is then dried again. The dried clay is then sanded and filed before firing at 760 degrees turning the clay into .999 Silver metal, After firing the piece is hand finished using traditional metal smithing techniques. Finally when the fern imprinted necklace is polished to a mirror finish it is dipped in Liver of Sulpher oxidising the surface allowing the fern to be much easier seen.
