Using a jewellers piercing saw and very small blades, these interlocking pendants were painstakingly cut by hand from a British Pre-Decimal sixpence. They

The two pendants fit together to make a complete jigsaw of a Sixpence. Each pendant can be worn by two separate people or even worn together by one person.

The pendants are fitted with 18 inch silver plated chains.

Each pendant comes in its own separate gift box..

THE LUCKY SIXPENCE

In Britain the sixpence was affectionately known as a "Tanner". The coin was usually given for luck so was known as a "Lucky Sixpence".

There is a well-known tradition of the bride wearing "Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue, and a silver sixpence in her shoe". A silver sixpence in the bride's shoe is a traditional good luck wedding gesture, and customarily it is the father of the bride who places the sixpence as a token of him wishing her prosperity, love and happiness in her marriage.

They are also used as a good luck charm by Royal Air Force aircrew who have them sewn behind their wings or brevets, a custom dating back to the Second World War.

A Sixpence was traditionally put into a Christmas pudding and the lucky person that got the portion of pudding with the sixpence in got to keep it.
