When I was learning to bowls, I used my trusty cheap hammer because I didn't yet have the correct hammer for the job. I liked the effect the hammer left on the surface so I've continued to use it. Bowls can have lots of uses and it's fun converting a flat piece of metal into a bowl. Initially I wanted to see if a square piece of metal could be made into a bowl, but I was happy with the result and so have made more.

Full description

I make these bowls starting with 1mm thick sheet copper, which I cut and then shape into a bowl. I use the 'wrong' hammer because I like the marks it leaves on the copper surface. The bowls are finished with copper lacquer and Renaissance Wax to help to protect the surface, though they may go darker with time.

The bowls are approximately 9.5cm by 9.5cm and 3 to 3.5cm high. They weigh about 90g. The bowls are not perfect because they are handmade. They can be used as trinket dishes, key dishes, tealight holders etc.

I believe copper is the UK 9th/USA 7th wedding anniversary.

Thank you for looking at my listing. If you have any questions, please get in touch.
