Dottie Dollie - Betty Peek a Boo Doll Brooch is a handmade replica of a real broken antique doll head from my collection.The original head is dirty and unloved, having been discarded and buried as rubbish almost a hundred years ago.
Betty's face was so cute, and cheeky that I had to give her a new life, and a bobble hat.
Betty is made from resin, and has been carefully hand-painted with acrylic paint and soft pastels.She has a gently aged look, which is protected with several coats of ceramic sealer. She has hand painted blue eyes, loads of black eyelashes, and light blonde hair, her bobble hat is painted in pale yellow, and a light lime green.
Betty really reminds me of the illustrations of Chloe Preston, she has a totally vintage look.
Betty is approximately 35mm tall, and 22mm wide, she has a 15mm rollover safety pin at the back, which has been securely attached with epoxy glue.
Due to the nature of handmade items no two are exactly the same, making each brooch an individual.
Betty wouldn't like to go swimming, and should be protected from heavy showers of rain.
