Handmade copper dish that is about 9.5cm diameter (about 3 3/4") and about 1-1.5cm high (around 0.5"). I make these bowls from sheet 0.9mm copper - I cut out a circle and then hammer it into a bowl using a combination of sinking and raising. I use the 'wrong' type of hammer to make the bowls because I like the effect of the hammer marks on the surface. The bowls are polished and then I give them a coat of Renaissance Wax to protect the surface.
These bowls can be used for plenty of purposes, from tealight holder to trinket, key or jewellery dish. Over time they may weather, especially in damp or humid environments or outdoors, but they can be either left to develop a patina or polished back to copper.
The bowls are not perfect circles because I cut the copper by hand. Each bowl is unique.
Copper is the UK 9th/USA 7th wedding anniversary I believe.
I also have a listing for the slightly smaller version of this bowl.
If you have any questions, please get in touch. Thank you for looking at my listing.
When I started making copper bowls, I began by using my trusty cheap and cheerful general hammer so that I could build confidence, but I found my little hammer leaves pretty marks in the surface of the copper so I've kept using it. Copper bowls are very tactile and I enjoy making them.
