Welcome to my Folksy shop in which you will find a variety of hand-stitched accessories for you and your home, many of which make lovely (and easy-to-post) gifts. I stitch in a variety of styles, combining traditional embroidery with other textile techniques such as felting, weaving, hand dyeing and silk painting. Vintage linens and fabrics re-stitched into unique gifts and accessories may be found at my second Folksy shop 'LynwoodcraftsRecycled' where you will also find vintage sewing supplies including vintage lace.
An atmospheric moorland scene, stitched onto a felted background, forms this plaque.
The background of this plaque has been created by felting hand-dyed pale wool fibres into a piece of commercial felt. Details of a windswept tree, heather and a suggestion of new curls of bracken, were added in simple embroidery.
The plaque is edged in blanket stitch using pale blue and purple lilac yarns to tone with the colours used in the background of the plaque.
The plaque is stiffened by a central core of a recycled CD. The back of the plaque is neatened with commercial felt and a hanging loop, of button-hole stitch in cotton, is securely stitched in place.
Height (excluding hanging loop) - 13 cm approx.
Please note this plaque may not be washed. Easel not included.
Please note: items from Lynwoodcrafts are intended for adults. This item is unsuitable for children under 3 years of age since it contains small parts which may represent a choking hazard.
I haven't stitched a moorland scene for a while. I love the blend of purples and pinks with the zing of lime green thread.
