Handmade Cameo Brooch - Vintage Sailor Girl
This brooch is a recreation of a porcelain brooch that I made for my Mum in 1995. I wanted to see if I could recapture the look of porcelain in resin. This is the result.
With a silver border, the sailor girl has blonde hair, blue eyes, and a blue sailor collar. The background has a pearlescent sheen, and has been gently shaded to have a slightly "aged" look.
The brooch is approximtaely 75mm tall, and 45mm wide. Attached by strong epoxy glue is a 25mm roll over security pin brooch. This brooch was carefully hand-painted with acrylic paint and soft pastels, several coats of ceramic sealer have been applied to protect the painted finish.
Due to the nature of handmade items no two are exactly the same, making each brooch an individual, as you can see from the last photo!
My brooches don't like to go swimming, and should be protected from heavy showers of rain.
