An amazing disk of fused glass, created by melting strips of coloured glass, through a ceramic dish holes, to drip onto the kiln shelf below. Each disk is unique. The patterns in the glass are creating by the glass getting hot enough to melt through the holes in the pot.
It looks fantastic in a position where it catches and light, perhaps in a window, allowing you to see the swirling pattern in greater detail.
Inspired by Andy Goldsworthy's outdoor art installations made from ice and snow, this art will not melt but provide endless hours of fascination as the glass changes colour depending upon the light.
The glass forms a 20cm circle and is mounted on a wrought iron stand, powder coated black, which holds the glass. The stand is 7cm high and the base is 7cm x 21cm.
I’ve always loved the work of Andy Goldsworthy, especially his work with snow and ice, however it always seemed so sad that his work melted and was gone.
My work is made of sheets of glass fused together. They have melted just enough to keep their shape, but have lost their sharpe edges, leaving a very tactile object. It is best positioned in the sun to catch the light and bring out the hidden colours.
