My mother collected sewing (and knitting) patterns. Mum's collection started before I was born (before the Cold War! that's all you're getting from me about my age!). All my clothes were made by her when I was young, including my underwear! She passed on her love of sewing, knitting and all kinds of crafting, to me in my genes, I suppose because, as soon as I was old enough, I started collecting my own 'vintage treasures' to add to mum’s accumulation, scouring charity shops and boot sales for them.

** There is an International Economy rate of postage provided by Royal Mail UK, if you don't mind the possibility of the package taking longer to get to you (it travels by surface mail, not airmail). This option applies to Outside Europe and the Rest of the World only. The main downside, as stated, is the time. Royal Mail quotes up to 6-8 weeks for Rest of the World (outside Europe). If you are interested in this option, please message me before purchase. I will create a listing just for you - using the Economy rate and will let you know the listing is ready for your purchase commitment. Thank you ** ***All postage rates quoted are for straight posting. If you require insurance to be added to your postage, please message me before purchase. I will create a listing just for you - with the option of insurance added and let you know the listing is ready for your purchase commitment. Thank you***
Please note that if your order is being posted outside mainland UK, you (or the recipient) may have to pay customs or VAT charges and a handling fee. The seller is not responsible for any charges or fees that may incur.
This is an original Printed Pattern sewing pattern. It is uncut, unused and complete. It is not a PDF.
The 1960’s was a decade of change. Women’s Fashion was freer, not so starched and formal. Miniskirts, hot pants, monochrome fabrics and lots of circles!
Here’s a 1960 pattern, size 16, for the iconic A-Line Dress. Loose around the waist and draping over the hips, these dresses were a joy to wear. Partner that with a short-sleeved jacket and you have a great combination of style for the office, or out shopping.
I’d imagine it would look ‘fab’ in just about any fabric. In winter, you could wear one made of a soft wool, or heavy jersey, and in summer it would look wonderful in crisp cottons or linens or lighter jersey. And it doesn’t have to be plain! Florals, geometrics, stripes (and the ubiquitous 1960’s circles!), just about any kind of print would suit this style.
Have fun!
