Blue tit bird brooch, a lovely wooden brooch that would make a great gift for wife, gardener’s gift or birthday gift for a friend.

This brooch started life as an unloved pallet dumped outside and left. It has been carefully cut by hand and sanded down. Because this is real solid wood, each one is unique, I can never make two the same which is the magic of using solid wood.

The finer details have been burned into the wood, the brooch is varnished with two types of varnish to add colour and detail.

A light blue felt wing is added to give texture and colour.

Finally the metal brooch pin is glued in place and brown felt added to neaten.

This upcycled bird brooch would make a lovely unique gift for someone special.

I like to reduce the amount of waste going to landfill, so the opportunity to use some old pallets couldn't be missed, along with using up scraps of felt.

I love bird watching and every year there is a pair of bluetits nesting in a nest box that my Dad made, the amount of work that these little birds do during the breeding season is incredible so I wanted to capture them in my bluetit brooch.
