My mother and grandmother both had stashes of buttons, most of which were purchased before I was born (and I remember the ‘Swinging 60’s’!).
I used to love to play with the buttons, plunging my tiny hands into the tins and jars of multi-coloured 'gems'. I spent hours sorting them into coloured piles, size relation piles, design piles and any other pile I could think of.
Decades later, after I had inherited the tins and jars of historical lovelies, I came up with the 'brilliant' idea of sharing the love with whomever would like to adorn their creations with something a bit different, a bit 'special'.

These buttons have been part of my mother’s stash since I can remember.
They’re quite weighty. I’ve always thought of them as ceramic buttons, but upon closer investigation I think they are acrylic, cunningly moulded and decorated to look ceramic.
They remind me of a pie! There is a moulded crimped design around the outside, just like you would expect from a home-made apple pie.
They have 2 holes in the center for attachment and would probably suit a slightly heavier fabric, like wool, rather than a light cotton, or silk. They will give you plenty of room at the back of the button to accommodate a knitted buttonhole, for example, as they have a rounded dome shape at the back of the button.
And, they’re Machine Washable!
Each button is 20mm in diameter.
